A while back Riich Models released CAD images and the box art for a Maxx "Prc" MRAP. Sinse then, I haven't heard anything on release date or if we will ever even see it. Does anyone have any information on this?

Last mention of it by Riich was in October on Facebook where they said they planned to have it out by the end of the year. Then that post disappeared

I start to believe that both Riich MaxxPro and their Paladin are just another example of vaporware... They apparently switched to WW2 subjects and lost interest in modern stuff

Hi Jon,

my contacts in China told that it´s a common practice to tease the modellers with such CAD images. If you consider what other kits Riich also announces, I wouldn`t hold my breath for that.
I personally will put my money on Kinetic sich I provided then with MaxxPro images.

Cheers

I really hope that isn't the case. Kinetic and Panda Hobby's MRAPs weren't overly impressive in terms of fidelity from what I saw, and it would be nice not to have to she'll put 100+ bucks for a resin kit. I was hoping they would release the Paladin, but I don't think it would be too bad if they didn't since we now have the AFV Club offering.

I'm also beginning to get the impression that they've scrapped both the M109 and MaxxPro projects.. assuming they were genuine projects to begin with.

I will be very happy if they prove me wrong

On the latest (30 March) Cyber modeller 2013 Kit Release Schedules Updated both Kinetics & Riich Max Pros have been deleted.

http://www.cybermodeler.com/special/2012_armor_manuf.shtml

Disappointing if neither do a release.

Meanwhile those who got the resin Maxx Pro from Legend (including myself) have been enjoying the kit the whole time. Even if the Riich kit had come out, there were NO plans for an interior. Again, resin kit = you get it now, sharper detail than you can usually get with injection molding, resin tires already in the kit, and tons of PE, already in the kit.

The Legend Maxxpro is awesome, I agree

Kinetic still plans their Maxxpro. I believe they said it would be after they release the IDF M109- towards the third quarter of this year.

Dear all BigA fans,

The MAXPRC still ongoing, we switch the tooling sequence (roll out the RG-31 first) because we want to manage a better experience on 1/35 Armor customer requirement. The first M-ATV and second M109 does not earn a good name for us in this area. So, we re-engineerning the research, CAD design, parts break down as well as the tooling method.

The first M-ATV is our first entries to the market with the support from a Korea design house. However, the result on the research is not profound, while we do not do the good job in tooling as well. The 2nd M109A2 is also based on outsource company to finish which the result is not as good as everyone expected. Thus, the third item from us is totally in house development with the help from Robert Skipper and others source. The RG-31 MK3 is the first item that we use the new "development" process to finish.

Although not many people like or know what is RG-31, the result is very encouraging. The tooling quality has a vast improvement over 2 prior release as well as no major "mistaken" in the dimension, details. We want to take the balance between details and easy for assembling. And I believe the RG-31 MK3 is our first step towards that goal.

For those who already have the RG-31MK3, they will know the difference.

The M-ATV is being redesigned to fix out the error that we encountered in the first release. e.g. the revised 2 pc tire/wheel design, reworking on all the pin/join, a new EDM process for more shape detail.

We are working the turrent used on M-ATV and MAXPRC. So the revised turrent will first appear on the MAXPRC and later on other MRAP series.

we will post some progress via our facebook page. So, check it out from time to time.

Regards
Raymond

Excellent point Robert, I'll be bringing a couple (along with a huge pile of new releases) to AMPS International in 18 days.

So drop by the Legend table to see it up close, you will not be disappointed.

Yes Kinetic announced they are redoing the M-ATV. Personally, I liked the RG-31 but am not a fan of the brittle plastic Kinetic uses.

If anyone looked really close at the CAD images i think you'd find that the weapon mounted in the turret is a MK.19/M2 hybrid..... http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/newkitnews/images/riichmodel/35001p.jpg

I have never built a full-resin kit before, and have very little experience with Resin conversions and the like. How difficult is the Legend kit to build? Is it too much for a first time Resin kit builder? I have quite a bit of experience with PE.

I would rate Legend kits as medium difficulty, the new ones are much easier to build. Maybe You shold start with small things, like a conversion or two. Full resin kits are complicated and need experience.

Dear Raymond
It is nice to see that you are now admitting that your 1st release on the MATV contained errors and you are in the process of retooling it.

So why did you claim to me by emailm arguing that my first review on the MATV was unfair ??

So at the end of the day, my first review that has been removed by the admin was right and honest.
How did you change your minds ??
Level of sell was so terrible ?

It is a pity you didnot read and took my review as a fair review.

I really hope that your future release will be up to the actual standard.
And I will be really happy to get my hand on pre production shot to review it.
Contact me by email you have it
Cheers
Seb

Hmmm, a little unfair there, eh Seb. Yes, I did take the original review down temporarily after I rushed to get it published, and then found it left me with more questions than answers. I thought we worked (yes, I also spent a lot of time on this one) through all the questions very fairly and the review came out with an honest assessment of the kit that you had in your hands (which I still feel was more of a pre-production kit then the one that I ordered and paid for that was molded cleaner). I thought we were both in agreement on the final published review.

"You have the choice between a M2 with nothing to use because it is molded in two pieces. As mentioned before, the cooling jacket has the holes perforated but requires a lot of drilling due to the excess styrene from the poor molding. The barrel is bent and has no details; it is only a plastic rod. Regarding the Mk19, it is the prototype of the Mk19 as depicted in the old Verlinden kit. The muzzle flash on the gun is absent due to poor molding. The weapon will best be replaced with an aftermarket item."

Just a section of the MATV review that is published...doesn't sound like I asked you to gloss anything over... I asked you to expand and reword it but the fairness is intact and the points made.

This kit is my first resin kit. It actually goes together rather easy. The hardest part, in my opinion, was the instructions (and they aren't really that bad). They are pictures of the actual build, but every once in a while there was an angle that I needed that wasn't shown. When that happens I just go online and Google what I need. One other step I haven't reached yet but is causing me some anxiety is the clear parts. They give you a thick piece of acetate that you need to cut yourself. Templates would have been nice but aren't included. Again, it shouldn't be super hard

The reviews of both the Kinetic & Panda M-ATVs put me off either of the kits even though I think it's one of the coolest modern vehicle kits out. They both sounded like more effort than should be needed to get a decent build.

However, reviews of the RG-31 have been very good and it's on my shopping list now and thanks to Raymond's update I look forward to a revised Kinetic M-ATV in the not to distant future hopefully and a Maxx Pro too. It is a great time for modern armor enthusiasts.

Raymond: any chance of adding a FAV to the Kinetic future plans please?
