Hello everybody,
Recently i was building a Opel Blitz from Italiery. Building the cabin I needed to ad the windows. After I glued them into place I looked at the model and I couldn’t help the feeling that it missed something. The kit doesn’t have a very good fit and that’s clearly seen by the joint between the windows and the cabin. Then I new what I was missing, the rubber band in which windows are hold in place.
So I took some black sewing wire and regular plastic glue (slow drying). I placed a drop of glue in every corner of the window. Then I took a piece of the wire (make sure that the length is not to short) and placed one end in a corner. Then I placed the wire around the window until you reach the first corner. Cut the wire in the right length. After that I carefully dropt glue around the rest of the window, (this can be done during the placing process) and I pressed the wire between the joint with a cocktail stick. And there you have it; a rubber band around your window.
Note: Do this before your painting process because the glue can ruin your paintjob, as was mine the first time. See picture below, but i think with a little more care this works well.
Now you just need some imaginative paintwork to bring it alive, but that’s for another article
