I just finished my first diorama a couple weeks ago and was surprised that when I told my friends and family about it, no one knew what a diorama even was. Is it just me being isolated in the Canadian prarie, or have you guys noticed the same thing?

It's just you alone on that prairie I guess.......

Over here it's quite a regular word to be honest, but I really don't know how that's in the rest of the world. Hey....we're such a small country...almost any word is a regular word over here, since we got to survive in that big world.

Hmmm....I recall learning that word when I was in Grade 5 or 6.....something to do with a school project.

We used to have to do dioramas all the time in 4th and 5th grade for projects. But they were nothing like these real model dioramas.:-) :-)

Yeah, same here in Finland. Nobody knows what it means and even my friends- who are far from being ignorant -are often eager to add the letter "d", making it "dioDrama".
I´m not too surprised, though. It´s always the same thing when a word is related to a very small group of people. Slang.
