I just picked up the Dragon 38t E/F smart kit over the weekend and started looking for AM PE, all I seem to find is ausf G; my question is, since I am planning a "whatif" conversion can I use these or do I need to go with only the E/F stuff?

Matt;
Hi. OK - in reality, the 38(t) Ausf G was very very similar to the preceding E and F. Differences mostly involved more welding and less rivets for assembly and other production process details. So, to large extent, telling the difference between E/F and G is more about checking for placement and number of rivets on the hull and turret than about big changes.
The PE parts in all the sets I know of address mostly stuff which is "generic" to E, F, and G. - Fenders, fender brackets, grouser boxes, etc. So "G" PE kits are largely useful on "all" - providing both major tin (fenders, boxes) and detail changes, etc.
Where these ausf differ in terms of add-on bits includes stuff like the fender boxes and jerrycan racks and such often seen on various tanks - but in reality these swapped around a lot and were all pretty much after-market add-ons anyways.
So, specially if you are thinking more "what if", any set which has stuff you think useful should do you well!
