I've decided to start phasing out my Tamiya acyls and replacing them with Vallejo. I know the difference between acrylic and model air. I have also browsed through paint4models. I am looking to cover German WWII vehicle camo from the beginning to the end, every theater and season. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hands down look for vallejo's panzer aces line of paint and I believe you can get some of it in model air as well www.scalehobbyist.com carries it also

From what I understand, the Panzer Aces sets are for figures. I need one for vehicles.

P.S. I've got track primer, old wood and new wood in the Panzer Aces line,so I don't think it's just for figures.I don't know how many more colors they make, but it's worth a look

Hey Matt, your right the Panzer Aces line is aimed at the uniforms and equipment of the Panzer crews and not the camo of the vehicle's. I found my model air colours cheaply through ebay, various sellers let you pick and choose which paints you want out of the model air line too, so you can get what you need as you need it. Cheers Danny

Hi Matt. You are the second person in as many weeks that I've heard this from on the forums. I'm just curious to know your reasons for making the switch if you care to share them with us. For years everyone has been saying that Tamiya is the best airbrushing acrylic out there but I went with the Vallejo line because it seemed so much more comprehensive with its color choices. Whether Vallejo sprays as well is debatable but it seems that to many, it is inferior to Tamiya, especially when the Tamiya is thinned with the lacquer thinner. At least this is what I've gathered from the many posts on the subject here. Brush painting is another matter altogether of course.
Care to share your insight for those of us considering the switch in the other direction (Vallejo to Tamiya)?
Thanks!

Jeff: I'll check that out.
Professor P: I base this on brush painting. I have adequate skills with Tamiya, but feel like I am missing out. I generally use MM enamels for brush painting, but the color matches are a far cry from exact and I don't want to have to mix every color accordingly. The range and scope of Vallejo is superior to that of Tamiya. And, unlike the enamels, is an acrylic that thins with water. This will make transitioning color brands easier. As is, I have to carefully plan my paint applications so I won't have to break my airbrush down more than once. That being said, I am also liking lacquers more. They can be brush on or airbrushed and have very little color shift(i.e. dark gray sprayed looks like dark grey brushed). However, I have to break my airbrush down in between paints. JMHO

Hey Matt just read this review from last month, it seems you can get Vallejo German armor painting and weathering sets after all.
Might be of interest to you if you haven't already seen it.
