What is the Base Abrams you are using?
... I tried to fit DEF on Trumpeter and Tamiya and niether one had the right 'turret to upper hull' ring size

If I had to guess, it looks to be the either the DML/Dragon M1A1 AIM or M1A2 SEP. You can tell because the anti slip is present and is molded on the glacis.
They're hard to find now and more expensive (minus the new $95.00 Tamiya SLEP) but both the DML AIM and SEP are the best Abrams molds on the market by far. Tamiya's still has issues, lacks anti slip and the same for the Trumpeter ones.

Yes mates....it's Dragon Abrams AIM, cod 3535.....I had two and so I could use one for this project.
I cut off the original turret base ring and glued to the ABV one....not a perfect fit but it works and above all it's totally hidden.

Well the site says it's for ALL makes....but if it doesn't fit (Trumpeter01535/Tamiya35158/Tamiya35326) - 2 companies out of three then it's made to fit Dragon; and should say so.

Just my 2 cents but I could have purchaced a 1,690 piece M1070 with a 48 page instuction book that fit together well; for the same price as these 169 pieces of resin and 6 pages of incomplete instructions; that doesn't fit as advertised.
I guess my hopes were to get a kit of the quality of Caveman's build.
silly of me...

Someone's finally tackling the ABV! I can't wait to see it in paint. I had a question. Have you ever experimented with pre-shading?

I wouldn't say that precludes you from using the other kits. A turret ring modification is pretty standard fare. Look at the T/34/100 made by various manufacturers for instance. It requires a little work for the multitude of available T-34 kits out there.
I think I may have found a use for my old Trumpeter kit. I was going to use it to scratchbuild a Crusader but lost interest in the project.

Just my two cents I can't justify the price tag I picked the perfect scale models ABV and had not a single problem with any of the kit I don't get the fit issues with this kit though if someone has the skills to take on this one they should be able to modify the turret ring to suit I'm glad I didn't bother with this one ill wait until PSM bring out their mine rake and add it on later.
