Well, I needed more space on the workbench, so I went out and bought a nice picture frame, and did this with it:

(I used my bass guitar case as a back drop, and to block out the rest of my room, which is a mess)

The StuG still needs a crew

A while back somebody on here named the figure in the foreground "crazy eyes." Now he has a home

Yup, that's the work of two afternoons, and too much free time. Trees are just sticks I ran outside and grabbed, snow is baking soda, mud is plaster, paint, ballast, etc. I jused woodland senics stuff a bit too. Most ground was painted with a blend of AK mud effects & dusted with European earth pigment. Figures are all Dragon, straight OOB. This is more of an ad-hoc mixture of troops, seeing as the guy in the rear has a Wehrmacht jacket.

A lot of StuG's road wheels aren't painted correctly, honestly, I think I was just lazy for that part...

Now, anything to fix? I'm going to touch up the road under the StuG, that didn't dry to the right color. But if you spot anything that needs work, which I expect, I can still fix it!

Thanks for looking!

Touched up the road a bit. Just more AK enamels.

It still needs to be touched up here and there.

Needs more texture maybe? I'm going to try to darken the snow at some point. Seems to bright. Suggestions?

Thanks J, this was more or less a quick way to clear off my workbench and I really like the way it turned out.

This is just an edit I did via flickr, almost makes it look real. Almost...

Very nice Conor...

How did you apply the Zimmerit to the Stug IV?

Snow effects look very good!

Regards, Paul

Thanks for the comments Paul,

The Zimmerit came with the kit actually. It's their StuG IV Early prod kit, 6576. Great build, it's got a full interior, but I left that out, as painting it was a disaster hahaha.

And it was actually my first time with snow effects. I used baking soda and it works better than the artificial stuff.

If you're not satisfied with snow then you make a few molten snow here and there from wet powdered sugar. At first prepare the surface with water-wooden glue mix (for example Pattex Palma Woood or some equivalent).
Then sprinkle with sugar and soak the sugar with clean water. This snow must be darker. First try it the method on a "test surface".

Conor, this is a great dio. You may want to use wet-effects on some parts of the mud to give it a more realistic feel.
