Thought that I would give a little tease for my new dio just started yesterday. This guy is straight out of the box from Mini Art and has nice sculpting for sure. I give you a pic of how he looks with no work done so far but I will keep the dio idea under my hat right now.

My German friends may have to correct my slang. My Dad used to say Zak zak when he wanted us to hurry. Is this correct or is it a Pennsylvania Dutch phrase? Also, does Bub(long U) mean boy?

Hi Jerry,

first i have to say your start looks very good and the figure has some nice Details and a good pose like he is really running.

Now the German correction or better explanation ;-)

We say and write "Zack-Zack" and it means really hurry up so your father was right when he say it to get you faster .
Also you can say "auf Zack sein" which means you realize or react about things fast or make something fast and correct.

You spell "bub" absolute right and it means young boy or teenager. Also you can say "Junge, Knabe, Bursche, Kerlchen, Knirps, Pimpf, Dreikäsehoch, Steppke, Wicht etc" For example "Steppke" is a typical term in Berlin for an young boy. It depends mostly in which region in Germany you live and how old you or your paretns are . But these were more earlier classical German terms. Today many english words have become common in our daily live.
Bye, bye

The figure really does appear to be in motion. What set is it from?

Cool! Thanks Stefan,
That was exactly what I need. I wonder if I can change the title? How do you edit this stuff?

Matt,
This guy is from the MiniArt German tankers in Normandy set. Very very nice set with excellent poses and sculpting. It is easy to clean them up as the plastic is very soft. Need to be careful though because of it.

Thanks Romain,
Nice to have you along again.
This pic does not show it very well but I did a lot of clean up and used a number 11 blade to enhance the clothing. Of course I added one of those awesome Hornet heads. Where would I be without them?

Jerry- nice choice of figure- as Matt says the idea of him in motion is conveyed nicely- looks like a good fig from the Miniart stable. The Hornet head is a great choice too, it compliments the body nicely.

Karl,
Nice to have you along for the next ride! He is a nice fig isn't he? He will be modified a lot from this "look" when I am done though,

Right you are Jerry! Hornet heads are worth every cent!

Big improvement on an already nice figure! The fact that he now looks to the right adds dramatically to the movement.
Well done Sir!!!!
Thanks for letting us watch!!

Some changes made. Added the sweater. Give me a break with the flesh colors as this is my first attempt to use Vallejo and not oil paint. It is a winter scene and so I wanted pale tones.
Needs a little touch up and then paint on the uniform,
J

Sorry about the crappy pics. I will try to do better.

Nazis...Nazi Mummies...we're doomed ! Only joking Jerry! I am very surprised at the turn this has taken but it is a good surprise- there is something quite desperate, even haunting, about a fairly seriously wounded man running like that- the look you've given him is quite astounding and very evocative.

Thanks for the insight and new outlook on this guy. Very thoughtful statement.
When you see him in the context of the new dio it will not seem as desperate.
The most desperate thing for me right now is to learn how to take better pictures!

Jerry- those are definetly better pics- the color on the figure and the detail are much sharper. You should consider experimenting with colored backdrops though- try light blue or light to medium grey- I always fine the grey colors work best when I take pictures of figures for some reason.

I will try the grey backdrop as I need all the help I can get! I will give a little info. This guy is suffering wounds of the hands and face from burns caused when his Panther was knocked out. A very common injury for tankers as the charges in the main gun rounds would usually ignite from the hot spall caused by a penetrating anti tank round or,the fuel catching fire. This is why they favored the u boat leathers that this unfortunate guy didn't have!
The alte hase from the eastern front used to put motor oil on burns for field expedient first aid.
More to follow,

I wonder if there is any way for the mods to combine these two threads? I don't remember why I started a second one any more?
