Hi guys,
Here is my version of a Syrian T-72 as seen in the recent fighting. I used the old "Kirin" kit which was released as the "Lion of Babylon" back in the 1990s. It is not the most accurate or detailed T-72 but I had built it years ago as an Iraqi tank and took the time to add some detailing which I liked to keep. Basically I just removed some of the Iraqi specific gear and added some stowage and new paint.
So any way, here it is. Hope you like it.

Hi Ed;
Pretty nice work on that old Dragon, you have a good eye for detail. And your paint work is top-notch.

So your saying the old kirin lion of Babylon is a accurate Syrian army T-72 A tank. I have been trying to get ideas for a dio. Of course with the right paint scheme of course. Which there are a few pictures to use on this thread already.
One more thing what BMP's are the Syrian army using I would like to do a dio with the two of them together. An use the new Iraq buildings that I have seen.
Happy modeling

Well done! Thanks for posting the pics of the Syrian tanks as well as your fine model. I have been following the war via You Tube (lots of videos of knocked out Syrian tanks,. I have a couple of old T-72's and I am converting the tanks to Syrian colors. One all sand and the other with the Green overspray.
Lots of dust on the tanks. the Syrians are using T-90s now! I don't want the USA involved but 2,000 T.O.W.2a's and Assad will have no tanks left.

The SAA has T-90s now, seriously? That's pretty cool. Please let us know if you ever come across any pics, Syrian T-90s would really be something to see. Likewise, if I find any, I'll be sure to post them.

Pretty sure they don't have T-90s. Just modernized T-72s purchased from Russian stocks in the 1990s.

Did anyone find any Syrian T-90's being used or heard they were being used by the Syrian government or bought by them would be great news .I've been wanting to do a T-90 tank. I would just do a factory fresh but I like weathering the models. Any help would be appreciated.
Happy modeling.

Hi;
The Syrians Do Not have the T-90 in there Inventory, only the T-72 ! The only other vehicles that you see on a regular basis is the BMP-2, as they like the 2 because of its High Angel of fire and its 30mm cannon.
