I bought all the paints recommended by Hobby Boss for the ZTZ-99B tanky (1/35 scale)
Question #1: Is it because I bought the Mr. Color (Laquer?) version instead of Mr. Hobby (Acrylic) version of the paint?
Question #2: Why is the colors so different?
Question #3: Is it because it's been sitting on the shelf for a long time, and I have to mix it really well to get the right color?
Question #4: Do people normally mix white into it to change the color?

ok to start the colors will vary quite a bit from paper color samples my best advice is to tell you to try and find some actual photos of the veicle and go from there or just pic your colors from a single manufacturer and go with it also if you want to lighten a color to achive paint fading then you can add white or the bright color of the base of the color such as yellow for green (i use dark yellow for darker greens and white for lighter greens)hope this helps as for the tan i would use white to lighten and a dark brown to darken it

as to your question about shelf life temp and humidity levels during storage can affect the paint consistancy but usually not the color and yes laquers and acrylics can and will be different in shades espeacialy when they are from different manufactuerers sorry for my spelling

well i have never used mr color paint but after looking at your color chart a light green for the lightest green and an olive drab or olive green lightened up a little with a dark yellow thats what i would recommend other than that just have funn with it and learn as you go can not tell you how many kits i have messed up before i learned to have fun with the hobby and one other thing to remember that photo you are using to reference shows a pristene flawless paint job probably brand new so remember that once it has been used it will be faded and darkened from sunlight and dirt

Thank you Mr. Ronnie
Yea, this is an expensive hobby, 10ml of paint so expensive, so I'm kinda ticked off that the paint recommended by the paint guide is so off
I will take your advice.

The paint is not off. Acrylics are brighter than enamels. And, the instructions call for acrylics.
