Oh No ! Not another "can't live without kit." I am trying to reduce my stash not grow it. Thanks Dragon for a fresh, new subject. And thank you too Kevin for the heads up !

Great news..
I can't see the scale. I hope it will be 1/35, and I hope it will be "completely" new molding.

Glad to see Dragon get away from the usual Panzers... even if only for a moment
I've always heard modellers say that the old Tamiya kit was a good solid kit... or is that not the case?

The numbering system is in their 1/35 scale series. I built the Tamiya kit many years ago as a kid. Since my return to modeling I always wanted to do another. Considering how many people have been asking for a new tool version of this tank, this news must have made many people happy. I hope it hits the shelves soon.
Didn't AFV Club also announce an M48?

Hi, ALL! Another great kit from DRAGON! How many of us are questioning, "OK, so what do I do with my old TAMIYA M48s?!? I have one built, with LEGEND's M60 Conversion, and three more on my "To Do" list... The TAMIYA kit still builds into a nice model, AFTER adding PE and resin updates, but that's not going to stop me from picking up a few of these new ones. I'm thinking that there will be follow-on kits of other M48-types, given that DML just loves to do that kind of thing; witness all those different Panthers and Tigers that they've done, not to mention their Sd.Kfz.10's... What ever happened to that 1/35 M3 Lee that DML has stopped advertising in their "Coming Soon" blurbs?!? Does anyone know anything about that one? Would be nice to see a really "state-of-the-art" M3 Lee/Grant, with an M31 ARV as a follow-on kit; there are a lot of us out there that prefer the WWII Allied stuff over all that German stuff that is glutting the market. And what about that M8 HMC that AFV CLUB has been teasing us with for years? Thanks, Dennis

Woah, some of my faith in Dragon has been restored! I didn't think they were capable of putting out something "modern". Its a good thing I didn't get the Tamiya kit a couple days ago with the plan to correct it.

PS- I just got done looking over DRAGON's "NEW" releases; there are TWELVE German Vehicles and the single new US M48... Tell me that the kit manufacturers aren't biased! We have seen more "Paper Panzers" alone in the last couple of years than we have seen US and Allied subjects in the last TEN. I couldn't believe my eyes when BRONCO did their M24s and their new British Locust, with a US M22 to follow soon! Sure, our M22 never saw combat, but at least it EXISTED... Which is more than can be said for those German figments of the imagination. If we REEEEALLY want some "never used" stuff, how about the US M7 tanks that were to replace US Light-to-Medium tanks, in their various permutations? There were all kinds of tanks that US Army Ordnance was testing to replace the M4- T20s, T23s, T26s, etc... Let's see some US pre-war stuff, such as the M2 Mediums that preceded the M3 Lees, the various M2 combat cars that preceded the M3 Stuarts, or how about a nice, new T3 Christie? For Korean War fans, how about an M46 Patton? It seems to me that an M46 would be a natural for HOBBY BOSS, what with all their various releases of M26 Pershing kits, no? For Artillery fans, how about that beast of a US 240mm Howitzer? Some thoughts, anyone?

Great news for all those who have been begging for modern stuff over the past decade. I'm sure its a beautiful kit, I'll pass though, I can drive by any number of ANG posts or motor pools and see these. WW2 german subjects however..lol..I'm making enemies here, but, no. This really is great news!

Can't wait for the next Vietnam era U.S. tank. A correct to era and accurate M551 Sheridan perhaps?

Now maybe someone could tackle the M8 dozer blade for the M48.

Oh yes!!!! I just gotta get this!
What about the 3 wheeled Vespa that's part of the box art?
There were thousands of those little babies on the roads during the war.
I hope somebody makes one of those too!
Joe.

I second that Jason and it's a shame it dosn't seem to have the searchlight you see on a lot of Vietnam era M48s or better still the early round searchlight the Marine M48s had!
Still hopefully now we have a brand new kit the AM guys will be all over it for us?
Cheers

At least the later search light is in the Legends M48 set, along with the sprockets with lightening holes (IF they fit- they only give you the outer half).

It looks great, But.....!
Dragon is again to lazy to include something that looks like fabric.
The´re not even trying to include something like that in there latest kits.
For example, this kit has no dustcover over the gun mantlet as it should have.
But no, let the AM market be bothered with that.
Such a beautiful kit but very basic.
The Tamiya kit is maybe outdated but it has the dustcover, searchlight and a deepwading stack on top of that.
Sorry for being a bit harsh, but it breaks my modelers hart to see a company like dragon not going all te way with a amazing offering like this.
A lot of us guys are waiting a long time to see this beautifull kit but Dragon did´nt finish it.
That is how it feels to me, an unfinished kit.

No photo-etch? And what's wrong with Dragon's panzers? The company has produced tons of Sherman varients, as well as quite a few modern pieces. Although, it would be nice to see them take up a new genre. Hopefully, this is the first in a line of modern subjects.

The problem with going all out, is it scares away the average modeller and drives the price up. By releasing a basic kit, the modeller can decide based on their skill and wallet whether it will be an OOB or they want to go all in, thus the need for aftermarket companies.
