Hi!

currently building the M1070 with anti IED stuff etc and was wondering if anyone has a picture with a NATO painted M1070 with CPK and a Rhino device.
Im wondering what color the Rhino IED device and the mounting plate should be.....

Thanks!

I think if you are using black, it is ok.

In my M1117, I painted the plate in sand (FS33446) and the device in black, look:

Thanks Jeff!

It's almost OOB. I only use Voyager Rhino and antennas.

It's a great Trumpy's kit.

Cheers!

Boris,
I was looking at a Rhino mount yesterday on a MAXX-PRO at our training site and as mentioned above, it was black.

Thanks for the confirmation, but should only the device and the rod be black and the mounting plate sand colored (like marco suggests).
or should the mounting plate be black as well?

One more question Frenchy (or anyone else who knows it)

The set comes with a chain, but on your pictures of the M1070 with Rhino, I cant see any chain, the picture of Marco's M1117 does show a chain.
Whats the chains purpose? and how is it attached?

Thanks!

Hi Boris!

The Voyager's intructions shows the chain attached using a "screw" (in model, an 0,5mm wire and a little PE wash).

I used the chain because it looks great, but I do not know its porpouse.

Cheers!

Could the chain be used against tripwire-activated IEDs ?

Hi Marco,
Can you show me where the chain should be attached?

Here's another view of the chain :

Two chains are even better

Chains were also used on this low-budget Rhino :

Hi, Guys,

To activate the sensor of trip wired IED's? This would be less likely, since in such a function the chain would be over the complete width of the vehicle and not only very close and centralized.
So, US veterans: who's lifting the curtain and clears this mistery!

Thanks in advance,

P.

Hi Paul

This is the kind of tripwire I was thinking about :

The one above was used in Vietnam, but you get the picture

I'd guess it's just to ground the device. Otherwise static electricity builds up between the vehicle and the ground, I suppose this could be done by dragging a chain from any part of the vehicle through... wouldn't have to be stuck out front....

my other speculation is it's just used to get indicate the correct height off the ground (chain not touching.. too high.. hear lots of chain.. then probably gonna gouge that expensive thing into the next bump in the road).

Interesting conversation about the chain! who comes with the 'official' explanation?
