Planning on a simple display for a fixed-mount flak gun and during research on fixed mounts, I came across this image. Any guesses as to the colors? Panzer gray for the base color most likely, but what might the lighter color be?

Thanks guys. I'm relatively new to armor and in need of major education. I assumed a/a artillery would have been gray and you are telling me that in this case it would have been a dark green. Was there a time when this changed? From other pictures associated with that one, I gather it was taken around 1944. Also, the recuperator protection "coffin" was a field mod done later in the war, correct??
My plan was to model a generic gun, but now knowing this is possibly yellow over green (with the box on top), I will build this one (more or less )

I think it will depend on the situation your model will be situated.
In africa they used other colors than they did in Russia

Since it's impossible to determine from the photo whether this is a FlaK battery at some forward position or inside the Reich, I think the possibilities are several, but two strike me as most likely:
Whitewash over Panzer Grey
Dunkelgelb over PG
I don't know why anyone would suggest DG over OG, as that seems unlikely. DG was generally the base coat with OG and brown as disruptive patterns, not the other way around.

Thanks Bill.
DG over PZ makes sense to me. I still like the image and think it would make an attractive model. On the other hand, a pristine overall PG gun would look sharp, representing a gun protecting the homeland...well maintained and clean (like the ones in the first three photos above).
My plan is to duplicate the concrete base, along with the steel plate covered cable conduit, and wood cover for the cables emerging from the conduit. Use miniature screws and nuts for the base attachment and some wires to represent the headsets/comm gear as seen in the images below.

As for a green one...
Nifty photo, but we have no way of knowing what color the gun was painted during the war. I am not familiar with any German AFV or gun painted green; IIRC green is always in association with other camo colors. The bases colors from 1939-45 are either PG or DG.

I posted the picture to show what this 88 is painted like now. The gun is located (or was) at a park in Kotka, Finland. Probably painted in whatever color was handy. I just used it as an example of what could be a very interesting model/base combination.
