While doing a review of Xtreme Modelling #3 (see review in Reviews section), one of the articles particularly caught my attention. It is a photo-report of an Egyptian FL-10 in the Sinai. Now this would be a SUBJECT for a conversion.... For the unitiated (and I certainly was until reading the article), the FL-10 was a French Amx-13 turret mounted on a M4a4 Sherman Hull. This is what it looks like.... Sexy weathering or what? However in the magazine there is a photo of an AMX-13 turret mounted on an M4a1 Hull. This pic was taken at the French Tank museum at Saumur and was presumably just a local (museum) creation. These pics are the real thing.....

Jim,thanks for the pics and links I do believe that is the M4A2 exhaust on it on the last pic I think there is gonna be a conversion out fot that A2/A4 soon I'll check on that #:-) (++)

That's an awful looking tank !

It's an M4A4, from which the engine has been replaced for a diesel engine (explaining the A2 exhausts). The original turret was replaced by the french FL10 turret, which is the turret found on AMX13 tanks.
The cannon is a french 75mm one, derived form the panther's 75L70 !

The conversion was done by a company in France.
What's interesting is that more or less at the same time, another french company was creating the M50 sherman for israel... whith the same canon !

Right now I'm building a model of this tank.
The hull is a DML M4A4.
The turret comes from the HELLER AMX13 kit and needs a good sanding session of the canvas used as sand shields.
The exhausts plus A2 style engine deck are AZIMUTH resin pieces. Several details are also offered by Azimuth.
