Good 'day troops,
Looks like my Sergant Major is getting a hard time from the Base Chief with regards to our three monuments a S-60, a type 65/74 twin 37mm, and a BRDM-2.
All of these have sucumbed to some degree to the elements and need a paint job. So the RSM asked me to look into it with a budget of $3500.00. This would include sandblasting as well.
The arty pieces are no problem, but the RSM just wants the BRDM repaint tan. Boring!
So my question is, if you had the chance to paint a BRDM, what scheme would you do it in?
cheers

Hi Richard!
The new Trumpy's BRDM has one scheme (SFOR vehicle) that looks nice.
I do not know if you will like, but it is not boring!
Cheers!
Marco

Sometimes a Google search (and definitely one on here if you have the patience) will yield a photos or two I took in Afghanistan of a grey, green and sand scheme. In fact, it's even been modeled a few times. It was one owned by a warlord named Engineer Wazir, who had a compound outside the village of Pol-e-Charki. He was not a nice guy, which is why I had occasion to pay hime a visit more than once.
It's an interesting scheme because it is more professionally done than the average Afghan scheme. Ah, it had little yellow amoebas painted on it as well.
Edit: If you Google BRDM Afghanistan it's about the third image that comes up - a build on M-L along with an uncredited photo by me of the real thing.

Do you happen to know where your base acquired it from?

Have no idea. I think it's been mentioned as coming from Iraq after the first gulf war.

That's the one! That's one of several I took. I have all angles but only converted a few to digits. If you need the rest I'll see if I can find the prins.

Hi Bill,
Not sure about Russia but Ukraine have used white BRDM-2s on UN missions.

I would try to restore it to how it would maybe look when it was captured then. The plain sand is boring but I believe Iraqi vehicles could sometimes be seen with green blotches on the sand base coat. Keep us updated if you can, seeing pics would be cool.

What is the difference between a BRDM2 & 2S may I ask?
Thanks,
Bill

Nothing to do with versions. Just plural: one BRDM-2, two BRDM-2s.
Sorry for the confusion.
Cheers,
