Hello,
I am returning to modeling after a 15 year absence. The internet is a great resource, but sometimes the info I find is conflicting. I am trying to sort out colors for German armor in Africa but don’t know which references are correct. Can you help? This is what I have found:
African colors for German armor:
March 1941: - Vehicles in Africa were to be painted yellow-brown (Gelbbraun RAL 8000) and grey-green (Graugrün RAL 7008) using two-thirds to one-third ratio.
March 1942:- Yellow-brown and sand paint (Gelbbraun RAL 8020 & Sandgrau RAL 7027) were made available to be used once current stocks of Gelbbraun and Graugrün ran out. The colors were to be applied using two-thirds to one-third ratio (yellow-brown to sand) with feathered edges.
But another reference says:
In March of 1942, both colours used in North Africa were replaced by brown (dark sand) (RAL 8020) and dark (panzer) grey (RAL 7021). Brown was to be used to cover 75% of the vehicle and dark grey the rest.
So, I am confused as to which color to use after March 1942 with the RAL 8020. RAL 7027 or RAL 7021?
