I should be getting mine in a few days, so I'll be following your build closely.
Too bad about that damage in the rear of the hull. Could it maybe have happened during shipping? Can't wait to see if mine has that too. I hope not

Thanks for the review! Shame about that fender bender. Looks like a stellar kit otherwise. Meng is really going from strength to strength. Nearly all their kits give me that "Shut-up-and-take-my-money"-feeling.
I'm definitely getting one as soon as I get some of the stuff I've bought recently out of the way.

I received my kit today and had the same problem that you
had with the rear of the kit. It seems as the packing of
the kit is the cause with the bent rear bottom as you have
shown, the interior should have been inserted in the body
to have prevented this. I was able to fix with a little
easy bending.

Thank you for the review! Mine is already in the post office and will be delivered tomorrow! I hope the hull will not have the same problem but it seems to be a repeating mistake due to wrong packaging direct from the company ! Is it easy to bend the rear part or the plastic crashes when trying to fix it?

Hmmm....I've this kit on the way too but I'm a bit sad about this problem. If it's a problem of packaging I would love to have a replacement part from the company.Maybe Meng will read this.

Thanks guys, glad to have done the review!
It is a packaging problem if you ask me, I will try to contact Meng Model and tell them about it.
I will start the build today or tomorrow and let you guys know how easy it can be fixed (or not )

I received the kit and i was very lucky that there was no problem in the hull part as discussed before! May be the packaging from the company and the parcel was better treated in the post! The hull part was placed in the right side of the box, touching direct in the floor of the box! The other sprues were not pressuring it! The kit is absolutely amazing! Thank you very much Meng!! Keep up the good work !

Then you were lucky Aristeidis! good for you anyway
Mine was not layed on the bottom of the box, mine was on top of the chassis plate, but not fitted in eachother, when I openend the box it released pressure so that was the reason.
Had nothing to do with shipping, Im sure of that.
Textual update, the chassis and the interior is already completely finished! everything painted etc, the decals were a blessing! they went on perfectly and look great!
Will post some fine pictures tomorrow or the day after.
Happy modelling!

I agree with you Boris! The arrangement and position of the sprues in the box is the reason for the problem ! I hope Meng reads this and try to solve the problem for the outgoing kits! Anyway i am looking forward to see some pictures! Keep up modelling

Meng is informed, hope they'll do something with it.
Sorry for the delay, but here are the pictures:
I have build the chassis of the GAZ and built all the interior pieces of the Tiger. I painted it all in the correct colors and applied the camouflage decals and dashboard decals.
The interior and chassis is now ready to be weathered.
The interior:
For all the pictures please see the GAZ-2330 build log on my website.
I hope you guys like it! next up is the weathering and completing the exterior side of the hull part!

Looking really good.. nice clean build.
How easy, or difficult, were those interior decals to apply? Any problems to watch out for?
Looking forward to seeing it weathered.

Looks great!
As well as the decals there appears to be a lot of interior detail....nearly cries out to be built with all doors open!

Good for you! good luck with building it!
Now back to my progress pictures that I took to long with! sorry for that.
In this update on the GAZ-2330 Tiger I will show you the paintjob on the exterior.
After finishing the interior, I glued the chassis with the interior on it to the upper hull. The GAZ was ready for the paintjob!
After masking some windows etc, I applied the color “Russian Green” by Vallejo:
That were the pictures of the base coat on the Tiger!
While airbrushing, I painted a lot of other stuff as well:
doors
tools
weapons
rims
antenna’s
some rope
Next up was applying the other two colors to create the three tone camouflage pattern! I figured the best way to do this was by had (brush)
I used the colors described in the manual, and after some struggling finally managed to complete the hard edge pattern.
Painting the details, unmasking and applying decals was next up and is shown in this update as well:
For the full update with all pictures please see the build log part #02 on my website: GAZ-2330 Tiger build log part #02
Now I would like some opinions from you guys. I'm struggling with how I should weather this thing.
Im thinking of a dark brown pinwash, then a lightbrown filter and some dirt on the chassis and wheelbase etc.
What do you guys think?
Thanks for watching!
