This weekend i made some pictures of the Tiger i'm building. A month ago i dicided that i wanted to build a Tiger in grey paint. So i asked around on Armorama and i got a lot of info (thanks Richard "the bear" craig). Because of the grey color it had to be an initial Tiger. The grey ones were only found in Russia and Africa. I decided to go for a Russian version. The first unit equipped was the Schwerer Panzer Abteilung 502. After getting the info and pics i started to build. I use the Academy kit 'Tiger 1 early' with the addittion of Eduard PE for in- and exterior, Elefant barrel and Friulmodel tracks.
Here are the first pictures of the building. I have to change the model in certain area's to get the intial version but i am not in that stage yet.
Painting the inner hull
Model ready for first wash. My effort on the inner hull is not very big because much of it won't be seen in the finished model.
The first testfitting of the model. Note the Friul tracks, the are very good and follow the roadwheels nicely. But you may expect that for there price!
The commaders coppula is already painted and detailed on the inside but i couldn't take a picture of it because my camera wont zoom that much. The turret roof is to big to fit as can be seen on the gap between the turret halves.
The Elefant barrel with the primer on.
That's all for now, when i have more pictures i will post them. Any comments are always welcome!

APbullet,
Looks GREAT !!! I built an early Tiger from the old early Tamiya release, w/ all the bells and whitsles. I did mine for the "Battle of Kursk". Needless to say , my build was much
more difficult, because it was before the Academy and the later Tamiya kits were released.
That said.......you've got your work cut out for you, much easier to get results.
Iit really looks the part so far. You might want to shoot the interior w/ Panzer Buff from Testors, other than that.........keep up the good work.

Nice work here. I wanted to ask you, what is the color you are using on the interior hull ? It looks like a blue-grey ? I like your use of the red-oxide color for the engine area.
Will look forward to seeing more pics as you go along.
Cheers !

Thanks all for the kind words. I gave the interior some washes so it's not that bright anymore. And Robert, the hull color is Tamiya XF-66, sprayed over the red oxide. That is also a color form Tamiya but i don't know the number by head. Sadly most of tthe interior won't be seen.
