Hello. This is ICM's Krupp WW2 German Radio Truck. The detail is wonderful but hard to remove from the sprues without the parts breaking but enjoying the build so far. The cab and some of the chasis has been weathered with raw umber oil paint. Need to touch up the overspray of white on the chasis with some grey. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

While writing a review of this kit I could not help but be impressed with the work on the chassis. Nice job on the build and painting Wingman.

Thanks Darren. The detail is wonderful but like I stated before, getting the small parts off the sprue resulted in some parts not being used because of them breaking. Some parts on the chasis were not used, mainly the suspension. The antenna masts that locate on the back of the truck are very nice with their canvas covers. I fashioned shades for the interior of the windows from square sections of manilla folder with Tamiya tape tie ups. There is a spool on the right side of the chasis, I'm guessing this had a power cable wound on it, I'm not sure about that, any info on that would be appreciated and what could I use to represent the cable that would hold paint well. The wood color on the tools will contrast well with the grey. Thank for looking, Wingman out.

Hello. The chasis has been weathered with Mig Pigments, wet and dry. The front windows for the cab have been installed and the cab attached to the chasis. Didn't notice the spot of pigment on the cab roof, that has been addressed. The radio compartment exterior is in the process of being weahtered. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

How old is this vehicle supposed to be. The rust seems awful heavylike something exposed to the elements for many years past the length of the war. I am just curious?

Hey Al. It's actually mud and dried dirt, I think that my white balance setting was set to "cloudy" which warms things up. The exhaust is actually rust colored. Thanks for lookng, Wingman out.

Hello. The radio compartment has been attached after much fiddling, glad that's over. All the wheels do lay flat, I chose the wrong box to put under the black backdrop paper. Time to attach the rear door, tools and other exrerior elements and then commence with some dusty weathering. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Hello. I've attached the two pieces of equipment to the sides, one for each side. I don't know what these are. Decided to start weathering the lower portions of the radio compartment with raw umber artist oils. I boarded up one of the windows on the door for a look of a repair in the field. Attahced the pick and shovel to the cab. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Thanks Villiers. Started to apply Mig Pigments dry to the lower areas of the radio compartment and cab plus the wheels and tires. That "thing" hanging under the chasis is the "power cable". I think that is what is it supposed to be. It has to be reattached. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Very nice. I built their Henschel truck, which looks very similar in the chasis area and know how fragile this assembly is. But it looks great. Nice job with the pinting and weathering. Any plans for figures or base?

Thanks Frank. It's gonna be mounted on a simple base with groundwork representing an open field, the base will be just big enough for the truck. Running out of room to display all these models. I'm not a figure painter so it will be sitting by itself. Thanks for lookng, Wingman out.

Hello. Just finished my version of a cargo hold. Didn't like the one included in the kit. Used basswood strips, dulcoated, hairspray applied and Olive Green applied. Paint chipped and a raw umber wash applied. Planning on using some spare photo-etch for bracing to the truck roof. Tarps made from Magic-Sculpt. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Hi, All! Nice job!!! Both the Krupp and Henschel trucks were built to virtually the same specs issued by the German Heereswaffenamt. (Army Weapons Department) That's why they look similar... There was quite a variety of vehicles built by different German manufacturers that were built to the same specs simply because the the supply couldn't meet the demand. Germany didn't have anywhere near the industrial capacity of the U.S...

That's not to say that there was only one foundry building M4 Medium tanks. (nearly 50,000 built) The U.S., with it's gigantic industrial base, had the luxury of being able to produce tens of thousands, and in some cases, hundreds of thousands of a single basic vehicle type. For example: 500,000 Jeeps and 800,000 of GMC CCKW-series of trucks were built during WWII. The Germans could only manage to produce tens, hundreds or thousands of a single type, depending on which type of vehicle... For example: Only 1347 Tiger I's and only 5774 Pz.Kpfw.III's (not including StuG.III's) were ever built... German logistics were a nightmare. Even as late as 1945, the German Army was still largely horse-drawn...

Hello. Look very good, but I think the truck should have more dust on the lower overall part of vehicle.

regards

Thanks Dennis. Don't know if another ICM kit will be built down the road or not. It's amazing how many varieties of vehicles were built during the war. Thanks for that info. I've attached the tarps to the cab roof and the cargo hold. Spare photo-etch parts were dipped in Blacken-It and attached to represent the bracing. No figures with this one, not a good figure painter. It will be placed ona simple base, will try to represent an open field somewhere. Thanks Pawel. The camera doesn't pick up the dust well. I'll give it an overall look and see if more should be added. Thanks for looking guys, Wingman out.

Hello. Finished the base for this build. Something simple, I'm not very good at groundwork. Thanks for all the views and comments, Wingman out.

Very nice finish you have there and far easier to see the work you have put into it with a lighter background.

Thanks Darren. From now on I'll use the white backround, it reflects the light from the flashes a lot better, thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Thanks Greg. Like the look of this beefy truck. Next up on the workbench, AFV Club's Sd.Kfz. 263 Panzerfunkwagen 8-Rad. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Your work is awesome! The amount of time your must have put into the chassis is outstanding. Very good finish and very inspiring. It sets a new bar, for me.

Wow, thanks Matt for your very kind words. ICM supplied a good amount of detail with this kit, a lot of it for the chasis but getting the small fragile parts off the sprues resulted in some of the parts to snap in two. I don't know if it is the plastic used or the sprue attachment points were too thick. There should be more detail in the chasis but some of the parts didn't make into the build. Again, thanks for the kind words, I'll be thinkng about them during the next build. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.
