This is the fist batch of the German divisions operating in the Po river area in Emilia Romagna (Savio is one of the Po affluents in that very area) from october to november 1944:
- 65^ Infanterie Division
- 71^ Infanterie Division
- 94^ Infanterie Division
- 305^ Infanterie Division
- 26^ Panzergrenadier Division
- 29^ Infanterie Division
More to come. If I'm not wrong also the Das Reich was somewhere there but I'll be more precise later on.

Thank you ever so much Fabio for the help. Would you know of any good net sites with good pictures of the terrain around that area? Also is the village Savio close to the River Savio? I thought it was a village untill I did some more reading.

I'll try to find some pics of the battlefield around the Savio river. No the village is not there but several hundreds km far, this is the reason why I asked the question. I supposed you are interested in the place where the canadians fought that's actually around the Savio river. Give me a bit of time, to find the pics wouldn't be the easiest thing.

Hey all:
Scoccia it was actually the 26th Pz Div, and the only SS Division in Italy was the 16thSS PzGr Div "Reichfuhrer-SS". The HQ ll SS Pz Kps was in Italy for a short period in August '43 after the Kursk battle, along with some sub-unit of LAH and DR.

werwulf,
Fedorowicz publishing are releasing a new book on the Italian campaign:
Battleground Italy 1943 - 1945, The German Armed Forces in the Battle for the “Boot”
This is due out on 5th Dec and looks to be close to being a definitive guide to this subject
