I have been a little busy of late building aircraft, as below

But I finished this Trumpeter Super Pershing a couple of weeks ago and have just completed another Trumpeter Kit, the rather nice Merkava III.

Trumpeter's Super Pershing is a mixed bag, with rather chunky detail, tricky tracks and lots of cleanup needed. In the end though, it built up rather well.

This seems to be a test version, not one of the few sent to Europe in late 1944. So I kept weathering to the minimum.

Trumpeter paints as per usual, base coat airbrushed this time.

Michael,

Again with the monotone colouring! Seriously, it's looking GREAT! You are forgiven for doing that unsightly object without tracks and posting it here, provided it's 1/72!

I did the M26A1 version a while back for the Korean Campaign and had intended to do a build review but somehow it got lost in events. I can attest that the kit was in many ways quite a PIG! Mine had lots of flash and the suspension and tracks were a nightmare.

Still not totally where I want it but...and...I tried doing a monotone for a change.

Cheers,
Jan

Hi, All! What's with all this negativity towards aircraft? Aircraft have been ripping "Things with tracks" and other sundry vehicles to shreds since the beginning of WWII... US and ALLIED Armor and Infantry relied very heavily on our Tactical Air Forces to turn all those vaunted Tigers and Panthers into just so many smouldering heaps of junk... I build the best of ALL worlds- 1/35 Armor, 1/48 Aircraft, 1/350 Ships, HO- 1/87 Brass Steam Locomotives, 1/24- 1/25 Automobiles, 1/35- 200mm Figurines, my collections run the gamut. BEAUTIFUL JOB ON THAT SPITFIRE!!! Oh, yes... The M26 as well... By the way, OLIVE DRAB is not really monotone, if you look at the real thing carefully...

Both these Pershing’s are excellent examples of great modeling, I’m just going to have to break down and get me one of these for the stash.

And what’s with the wingy thing – looks killer all the way!

Hmmm, I thought it was a great kit, the only problem I had with it was not knowing where to position the road wheels.

@grendelrex2 - Mike,

Welcome to Armorama and in particular the Braille Scale Forum. I built mine for the Korean War Campaign and I found the kit fairly good but as with many kits it had a few "rough edges" to deal with. I'll agree with you that the suspension on this and a few other Trumpeter kits has it's problems but nothing that taking one's time can't cure. It looks like yours turned out okay so that makes three of us that were able to overcome any issues. Glad to see pictures of your build and look forward to you posting more of your work in the future.

Cheers,
Jan

A lovely model. Nice work!

I have all the Patton series of tanks to build. Be nice seeing them on the shelf together.

@grendelrex2 - Mike,

Welcome to Armorama and in particular the Braille Scale Forum.

I'm not new, I've been here almost as long as this forum has existed but I don't post often and it seems every time I do I have to make a new account because I can't remember my previous account information.

I plan on building at least one more of these kits as the Super Pershing, just have a few to get off the bench first.

I'm sure that a lot of the great people in this forum would like to see you drop in and post more often. It also might help you remember your login info!

Will this need to be a conversion? Didn't Trumpeter make about four different versions of the Pershing? I'm familiar with this tank and swear I saw one at a show in 1/72 a couple of years ago.

Not so much a conversion as it just requires some things to be added to the base kit. The extra armour and other major things is easy enough but I'm still looking for small details. I know I need to lower the front suspension a tad.

I've seen it done in 1/72 though much more in 1/35(not surprised there!:).
