Hi,
I'm trying to model a 1972 SAS Assault vest on a 1/35th figure.
These assault vests are made with dark green nylon front & rear poches & a fine mesh which goes over the shoulders to make a vest type rig. They are the precursor to assault vests worn today.
So I'm looking for some ultra fine diamond mesh that I can use on my figure.
I have purchased some 'Reality in Scale' ultra fine diamond mesh but this is too big.
Any ideas?
Is there any ultra ultra fine diamond mesh I can get my hans on?
Thanks for your help.
Joe.

The finest stuff I currently have in my stash is VLS TechStar Stainless Woven Mesh, TC 3005. It's square, not diamond, but I think I even have some of that somewhere. I don't know if you'd want to use the stuff to make gear, but you can certainly press it into two part putty for a good look.

This might sound strange but the herbal teabags they serve in Starbucks consist of a very fine mesh so treat yourself to a cup of tea and keep the teabag

Joe G.;
Yeap! Tea bags made of fine nylon mesh could be your ticket! Aside from StarBucks, various higher-priced boutique - type teas come in little mesh bags.
It may also actually work to use a piece of fine screen from a coffee filter or some other like thing. These would likely be metal, but I've seen some cheaper things at gadget places and even at WalMarts which have fine plastic screens.
While you are looking for "diamond", a square screen would certainly look good at 1/35, I would think?

Would you even be able to discern that fine of a mesh, in 1:35?

Another source for small mesh is fine lace ribbon. I got a roll of yards for about $2 from Michael's crafts store.
I've also recently found that Lipton has packages of single-serving flavored teas that are in mesh bags.
The only thing I've found that is finer mesh is PE screens for 1/24 scale Stock Car models.

Another suggestion:
Check Auto Supply stores; as any number of cars and trucks, especially older models use fine mesh woven screens as strainers in their fuel systems.
Also check Plumbing Supply houses for fine woven screen as faucet aireators (sp?) use some of the finest woven screen I have ever seen.
These two sources MAY sell it in 4" x 4" sheets.

I know I am chiming in here late but this just popped up in a search. For metal screens also look in a good tobacconist for various size screen for pipes. I found some that were perfect for a 1/72 Panther and others as big as an inch and a half.
