I am Building a Maus and it is unclear to me if the suspension wheel had rubber around the rim or the were all steel like late Tigers and Panthers.

Any info is appreciated.

Two things... One, given the weight of the vehicle, rubber wouldn't stand a chance. And two, the instructions for the Dragon kit has no paint indicators listed for the wheels (but we all know how much we can trust Dragon instruction sheets ).

There were two types of wheels used on the Maus prototypes: one one with holes (used before November 1944) and a "solid" wheel for the initial and final configurations, both similar to the rubber saving wheels of the Tigers and Panthers, no external rubber.

Forgive the crudeness (and straying a little off topic), but I'd give my left nut to be able to go to that museum!!

It has got to be the world's ultimate collection for pre-1950's armor and weapons!
