Well with the Veterans Day weekend here I was going to build a 1/35 sniper in a diorama for my fallen buddy's family. I was going to use Alliance model works ACU pattern decal. It seemed nice but very dull and flat with a chalk board feel. I was having problems with it so I decided to email the company. I must say Brian Nicoletti was very fast to respond to the emails. Then it turned South, here is the email traffic. If he is the owner I hope the best and hope he learns to treat customers better, If he is not? Anyway... Read the email traffic

lol, my partner just said, as soon as he saw you said "i'm not an idiot" he knew you were a retard. take that dumb and [auto-censored] you, may your family die in house fire you son of lady, stop wasting my time.

I'm not exactly sure how much you could soften it. the tutorial explains how to apply the decal in small pieces, I thought that was what you asking.

Most decal have a glossy finish to them but the acu decals are a dead flat. I am even cutting mine in smaller pieces than in your "tutorial" and still having the same problem. Funny how your send a tutorial that recommends using decal solution after you said "decal solution will not do much to soften it, the hardness was from color density"Sent from my iPhone

You know how a globe (the earth model for school kids) was covered. When you use the camo decal on a helmet for example, you'd also need to cut it into 3 or 4 pieces to cover the helmet. try not to create too much overlaps as those overlapped areas would have extra thickness. best regardsBrian

I have been trying to use it but it doesn't seem to react with any decal solution. It doesn't crack but when I try to bend it, it acts just like paper and doesn't want to keep a shape. Please advice me on how to best use this product.

I have used these ACU decals and had no luck with them. They are far too thick to do anything with them.

As for the AM owner, he was a member some time ago. The guy went berserk over a review of those exact ACU decals you are talking about, started with profanities and trolling, and he was banned pretty fast. So, I'm not surprised to read your email conversation at all.

Hi Chris,
Don't take it personally. You are not the first or probably in the first 50 of people that Brian has chosen to attack.
There is a reason that Brian (formerly known as Brass Nautilus) no longer posts on these forums denigrating other people's skills, including people like Adam Wilder etc. Try a search if you want to find out why.
Some(in fact most)of AMW products are excellent, but he damages his brand with his diatribes and I know many modellers who will seek any alternative rather than providing him with income because of this.

As I said, don't take it personally, you're in revered company.
Cheers,
Lucien

There was some talk on the Live Resin thread about the best decals for ACU- seems like the ones to go for are by a company called Crossdelta.

I heard of Cross Delta that is here in Korea and one of my good friends, Young B Song from Young Miniatures said they stop making them. I am going to give him a call and let him know what is going on and plead them to bring it back. I'm just glad it not me, I thought I was asking a simple question

I've used the Shinsengumi ones and if you buy them direct from Tasca they're only around $10 USD plus shipping.

I'm surprised to read this about Alliance Model Works. I've ordered from them several times (mostly model ship accessories) and have always had courteous service, even with problems.

Same here to be honest, they certainly do some useful 1/35 German gear.

Chines- thanks for the info about Crossdelta- that explains why they are hard to come by. I hope they start making stuff again.
