Thanks ! The purpose of the elastic thread is twofold. It does allow the parts to move, solder is too rigid for the tow bar. The appearance is the main reason...it looks like the real deal!
Back to work....

Thanks everyone, the comments keep the drive alive!
I was planning Alclad for the ballistic glass, but the finish product looked poor. After several attempts, I pulled out the reliable Future/ food coloring mix, and finished the "glass". Pics up after a few hrs drying!

Word of caution..avoid masking glass with the yellow "frogtape" !! I found a ton of tape residue after everything dried, and ended up reshooting the mix, this time Tamiya tape was used.

Here's the hydraulic tank that mounts behind the cab, several layers of sheet was laminated then sanded to create the profile.
The bolts were sourced from the Meng small bolts set..much simpler than the hex rod !

How about a little paint teaser ! The bed of the wrecker was the NATO scheme, painted w/ Tamiya colors. The brown was mixed from nato brown/ buff.

Thought I'd add a little shot of how the truck got her name..
The letters were dry transfers from Archer, I think 2mm. Applied over the sand like a reverse mask..sprayed nato green, then carefully removed the transfers with a strip of Tamiya tape! "Medusa" now has her name!
The large lifting clevis' on the back were formed from solder, the pin just plastic rod I squished the head, then drilled it out.
Solder also was used for the slave cables seen in the spare tire.
Any feedback welcome ,
