Yes! Tankers also were issued that uniform and you could even use the steel helmets if your scene calls for it as they were also issued helmets. Don't see many pics of the helmets being worn as they were for working outside of the tank.
If you are putting them in a hatch you will probably have to do some dremel work as the winter suits are bulky.

They are very suitable for re-ammunitioning and maintenance (with some repositioning of torsos and arms) for tanks and especially open SPG's.
