Hi Guys,
Here are a few photos of Bronco's kit of the SU-152 (Mid-Production 1943). A delicate, intricate build, which I then messed about with to model as a wreck. A little heat applied to the engine hatch cover mimics a compression blast where the cover is part-blown off its hinges, ditto one of the round hatch covers adjacent. It's modelled with a light winter wash and then standard wet/dry pigments to give character to the finish.
The only aftermarket item is the battle flag from Reality in Scale.

Hi Robert
Looks really great! You've done a fine job in making it "sit" right in the ground, and not on top of it. I was wondering about the hatches for the crew, wouldn't the be left open, or did the crew not survive the hit? Just a thought.
Best regards
Jacob

Hi Jacob,
The two top turret hatches shown are not the only poseable crew hatches on the kit, as there are two smaller turret hatches for the commander etc., but the two shown here are more practically the access/escape hatches and these I have left open to indicate an abandoned vehicle. The other 'blown' hatches are directly linked to the engine compartment.
In fact my original idea was to have a three-man crew escaping the vehicle - there is a good resin set of one man being pulled from a crew hatch by a second man, with a third man posed in a defensive position with a machine gun (TANK Company http://www.historexagents.com/shop/hxproductdetail.php?ProductCode=T35106) - but in the end I thought the vehicle composition was strong enough on its own.
Thanks for the comments.
