Hi,

Hope you guys can help me on this one.

I recently started building modern tanks in 1/72 scale. I received the ModelCollect T-90A ( http://henk.fox3000.com/modelcollect.htm ) a few weeks ago and starting on the hull I found a problem. I say problem as I’m not sure if it a issue. To my knowledge the T-72 on which the T-90 is based the suspension arms are off set left to right. The 1/72 Revell T-72 has this setup as do the 1/35 Zvezda T-90 kit I have. Does anyone know of this issue in the modelling community and if so are any solutions noted yet.

Hi Richard,

I'm not sure what you are getting at here. Are you saying the Modelcollect kit is off-set wrongly? I'm waiting for mine to come in with the T-90SM as well.

You may want to try a post on the Russian-soviet forum site.

Hi Kerry

Hope this will explain it better as I'm still having problems postings pics. Received this reply from Marc Mercier.

"You are right. From what I see on your picture, the roadwheels on your model will be equal left and right once assembled, with is impossible on a tank with torsion bars. Just check your Revell T72 tank and you’ll clearly see five groups, consisting each of two bars close to one another and a sixth group hidden under the frontal belly armour. These close torsion bars carry one arm and associated roadwheel on the left and the other on the right, which means that one side, all roadwheels will be closer to the front than their neighbours (Very obvious on a real tank, but often neglected in drawings). The open ends of the torsion bars (i.e. with no roadwheel on it) is permanently attached to the hull. This offset is also the reason why a torsion bar tank never drives straight ahead, but always has a light curve to one side.
Model Collect clearly has taken a shortcut, because both arms each are on the front torsion bar!
I’d not bother correcting it on your T90, because it is not easy to fix on a 1/72 kit and most people don’t even know about this feature."

I'm not going to fix my kit. Waiting for the Revell offering.

Ok, tracking.

That would be a lot of work to fix and in 72nd probably not noticable anyway. The ModelCollect hull is metal right?
