Painting forum-ites,
An errant enamel bottle was among my acrylics in a color I needed and I airbrushed it over a section of fully-dried acrylic and a smaller area of acrylic I had airbrushed on minutes earlier. I am letting the enamel dry completely (24 hours plus )
After that, if I want to airbrush over the enamel with acrylics, can I? If so, is there any preparation needed? Anything I need to know about any aspect of the process? Thanks for any help you can provide. ASL Modeler

Hi Joe,
No, if you let the enamel dry 24 hours you are okay to proceed with acrylics like it never happened. Don't do a thing to it.

Depends on the enamel. Some could be cured in 24hrs, some may take weeks or months.
Do a smell test where you painted the enamel on. If it still smells like fresh paint, then it means the enamel hasn't fully cured and is still gassing out. Putting an acrylic over an enamel that hasn't fully cured will cause your acrylic to not dry/cure properly.

you can spray enamels over cure acrylic then use a brush with enamel thinner to clean up any overspray i.e. paint the a tire the tire color with acrylic then spray the hub with an enamel color clean up the over spray on the tire with enamel thinner works great.
