Hello gents from armorama,
I've almost completed the first figure of a pair coming from Dragon Navy seals II kit. This kit is part of the nice kit Dragon released 10 years ago from their Nam series. This guy is supposed to be a RTO, but given I made few months ago the navy seals pair from Bravo 6, I didn't wanted to make exactely the same kind of figure. The head is from the hornet line, as always. He's wearing the woodland camo. His colleague will be the one kneeling with the Mk63 MG, wearing a tiger stripes camo.
Here are the pictures.
Best,
Julien

Looks awesome!
He does, however, need a knife!

Thanks Robert.
I know, Navy seals did hang a Kabar on their left chest, but as I scratchbuilded the (inflate ?) tube, I tought it would cover it, which would have been a pity. And I guess it's not very practical to have the Kabar in one's back.. Would there be another place where Navy seals hung their knife ?
Best,
Julien

An excellent paint job will make even older figs look good. Did you also have to do any undercutting or other surgery on these figs?

Hi Biggles,
Apart from the inflate tube, I cut and repositioned the left arm as the original arm wasn't bended enough to grip the short gun reload handle.I also made tiny stripes around the top part of the nades in order to reproduce the real strap. Finally I had to work on the joint between head and torso.

I know, when my dad served, some wore their kabar on their right leg just below the knee.

Nice work on this old Dragon figgie!
I have a few of these old sets lying around and from time to time I get the idea to paint one of them up - especially when I see some well-painted examples like yours - but I always become disheartened when you find that the shoe detail is missing on one foot or a piece of webbing lacks all detail.

Belt is fine. In the case of this figure, I'd go on the belt underneath the smoke grenade on his right side. Since the smoke grenade is attached to the magazine pouch rather than the belt, the knife (in real life) would fit there okay.
