Anybody have a technique for making realistic icicles? I was planning on perhaps using clear modelling glue to afix a short length of clear fishing line to a test beam and then applying more clear modelling glue to the fishing line until it had enough build-up to no longer look like fishing line covered in modelling glue... However, I am open to what's worked for you...

What might also work is stretched clear sprue. You could then texture it with some thick CA glue like Zap-A-Gap.

Ambrose82,
Two Part 5 Minute Epoxy works great too. I didnt use it for iceciles, but I did use it as "slobber" on the mouth of a "Taun Taun" figure. You put it in place and let gravity do its thing, then trim them, and if you want, spray dull coat to dull the shine or leave them bee for the shine.

Yep,

Boosahmer is right...that article that is hosted by Ronny "Roadkill" is cool and simple.

I can't see the article on his site, but that can because of my PC settings. when you can't see it either, just send him a PM.

Here's something I found out when playing with different artist's gels, mediums and pastes. I put down a bead of gloss medium on a piece of Teflon I had. Then I took my hobby knife and made a number of scrapes, all in the same direction, perpendicular to the line of the bead. Then I let it dry and peeled it off the Teflon. Bingo, dripping water, or icicles for a roof line. This method gives you control over the length and irregularity of the drip or icicles.
For dripping water, leave it clear and shiny. For ice add white or white with a touch of blue. Or, for texture add microballoons, or white marble dust. Does this help?

try clear hot glue.not with a glue gun,but you can buy hot glue dishes from most craft stores that melt the glue sticks in a dish.use an old style toothpick, the ones with one side that's flat.apply and slowly pull down.apply some regular glue to the base of the icicles when they dry.when everything is solid add clear acrylis paint.
