Well, it came in yesterday and here is a first peek inside the box. Just like the recent 1/6 Sherman M4A3 there is a lot of plastic inside. Nothing warped, mis-formed, or broken although a number of parts had come off the sprues. There is some flash but it is pretty minor considering how large the pieces are. Ejector pin marks are hidden for the most part however there are some on the track links that will require filling and there are a LOT of links.

Unlike the Sherman kit, the hull here is built up from multiple pieces instead of just an upper and lower section. Both guns are fully detailed and can be seen either thru the moveable hatch cover or by lifting the turret off however there is no interior. There is a brass mesh screen to cover the muffler as well as a small sheet of decals including palm trees.

There are 5 more major sprues that are not shown and there are multiples of the running gear and track sprues. All in all this looks like a fun project with lots of opportunity to scratch build and add details.

That's going to need a lot of glue
Would love to build them tracks up.

Karl,

Yeah, there are 5 sprues for each side with 24 links per sprue. You can see the 10 ejector pin marks on each link. Some are barely noticeable but others will have to be filled. It's possible the innermost ones won't be seen anyway so that's a blessing. The tracks and wheels are moveable too.

Looks like a simple project. That said, the fire extinguisher looks like a better nozzle, and a re-detailing of the securing straps would be a good idea.

Looks like a fun project. It's too bad they decided to go the econo route with it. At the least at that scale I'd expect every hatch and vision port to be hinged and workable, along with separate tool clamps and mounts. It's hard to see in the picture, but it looks like they didn't even put any crosses on the decal sheet.

Bob,

You're right, no crosses. The other images on the decal sheet you can't see are two white palm trees. The tools have molded-on straps and although the engine deck louvers are nicely detailed there is nothing under them to see. You have to either scratch an engine compartment or build a black shadowbox underneath.

Considering the cost and the pounds of plastic already in the kit it would have been nice to see a few things upgraded over their earlier Pz.Kpfw.II B.
