Hi,
This is the Dragon kit 6303 'King Tiger with zimmerit' which I bought when it was first announced (6 years ago!!!) with great excitement.
When I actually saw the zim in the flesh, I was pretty disappointed and the kit ended up on the 'forget it' shelf.
I year or so ago I decided to have a go at it. I reworked all the zim with liquid glue and sandpaper and, IMO it looks a little more realistic.
A week or so ago I dug the kit out again and finished all the detailing and it's now ready for the paint shop.
It's supposed to represent this sSSPzAbt.101 Kingtiger, '112', as it appeared in a film reel in France, August '44:
In all the film reel stills the front and left side details are pretty clear to see. The rear end and right side are purely guess work based on the production date features:
Comments and critique very welcome.
Thanks for looking, Grant.

Looks like a tidy job.
Be sure to post some pics painted. Is the PE all from the standard kit?

Thanks for the comments fellas.
The paint will have to wait a week, it's Assen TT this weekend.
Hi Andy,
The PE on this mostly leftovers from other PE sets.
The engine screens were from a Voyager set, a couple of Aber clamps, the spade head holder is Dragon.
The track cable holders are all self-made from old PE fret, as is the loose side fender strut.
The copper cable are from EurekaXL and a resin MG from TaNK.
The nicest AM piece has to be the Fire extinguisher, a very new item from Panzer Art.
With this kind of detail and 6 in a pack, I won't be messing around with PE anymore:
Best, Grant.

@vanhall – Grant,
Even without the paint it looks good! Great job on reworking the Zimmerit paste, looks to scale. Looking forward to seeing your take on the paint scheme, I’m sure it will be a pleaser . . .

Reworked zimmerit looks great. It seems that older Dragon kits with zimmerit require little tlc, it's same deal with 6383 Tiger I kit. That kit has zimmerit with so deep grooves that doing battle damage is quite a chore (and some ill fitting parts as well...).

Anyone have any idea where in the USA I can get some of those fire extinguishers? There is no stockist here that carries them.

I'm starting to carry some of the harder to find lines in the US, I have Eureka XXL in stock and RB Model and Stalingrad is on the way, I have been trying with Panzer Art (who makes the fire extinguisher) but their communication is not so great.
I'll keep you informed.
Looking forward to seeing this Tiger with some paint, looks great so far.
