I just picked this kit up yesterday, got home opened the box up and in was very pleased to say the leased! What a beautiful looking kit in the box! Finly molded parts, highly detailed, lots and lots of extra detailed parts.
Has anyone built this kit? And does it build up as well as it looks ?
TIA,
Garry

Garry;
It depends how accurate of a model you want. Academy got the back hull plate all wrong and the back grills are off. Verlinden makes a correction set for the Hellcat which provides a replacement back plate to fix the error plus grills and all the PE fixin's.
If you don't care about this it will look like a decent Hellcat when you finish building it.

I added the PE kit check out the photo's in my picture gallery. I was more than pleased with this kit. Easy to build into a first class kit. Let the 100% accuracy freaks have their due, if I did it all over again, I would have skipped the PE set.

M18,
There have been several reviews compairing the AFV, and Academy offering of this vehicle. Each has its pro's & con's. Both have fine deatail,and the Academy kit comes w/ more of a complete interior than the AFV kit. With the PE detail sets from either Eduard, Showtime, Royal Model, or Verlinden, Airwaves. And the resin sets for stowage, and extra details...either kit can be built w/ an exceptional representation of the Hellcat. It all comes down to personal preferance.

Hey thats a nice looking Hellcat build ! Yep I'm realy liking this kit, cant wait to start.
I saw your Sheriden pics to, good job! Is that kit OOP now? I want to build one, I remember these from when I was in the Army back in 1969 thru 1971. I have always liked the looks of them.
Thanks,
Garry

Garry beebee. About the Sheridan. It's the OOP Tamiya kit. requires quite a bit of work. I got it from some kit clearing house, you might find one on ebay. It unfortueatly requires quite a bit of scratch to make a "nam" version. Need to replace the tube, add the entire searchlight mount/light and the entire cupola/machine gun shield. There are also small details that make a difference. Get the old Eduard PE set for it (also OOP) thanks for the compliments, I'm real proud of both these vehicles.
