Does anyone have photos that would clearly show side opening grenade box and telephone box, that are normally hidden behind the raised spades at the rear of M109A6 hull? All older M109 variants had two top opening grenade boxes in that spot, but Paladin has different configuration (missed completely by Italeri). Left side top opening grenade box was replaced with side opening one - probably because spades are rarely lowered on Paladins, as it can fire without them in most cases, and new boxes make access easier with spades raised. On the right side of the hull the grenade box was replaced with a new telephone box.
Unfortunately I don't have any clear photos of either of these boxes. Maybe someone could help me, please? I'm trying to finish my Italeri based Paladin before the AFV Club one released

Thanks a lot Henri-Pierre and Rob!!! Exactly what I need to scratch build these boxes!
I'm not sure what you mean. I don't have access to any info or samples from AFV Club to check that.

Did they get it right?

I didn't read your whole post and therefore didn't realize you were using the still very buildable Italeri kit.
Edit:
Are you building it with spades up or down? I didn't go whole hog on these boxes as the spades are meant to be up, but you get the idea. They remain largely unseen.
I forgot to show you a different view of the left side box.

Spades up. But with my AMS I have to make these boxes as accurate as possible, even thought they will be almost invisible
And my model is only partially Italeri - the hull, modified howitzer assembly and some turret details are from AFV Club M109A2 with Riich tracks.
