How would nighttime or darkness be simulated in a diorama and make it clear that it is night? With careful painting and shading?

I would think that something like a shadow box, would be the best way to convey that sense. If you can build a box that is big enough for your project and find some blue LEDs that might be the best way to simulate moonlight. Cheers.

Shadow box is the best/only way I can think of.

Paint it in black and white as I have seen that method used on here before, I just can't remember where on the site.
