I understand that USSF used the Toyota Tacoma in Afghanistan & not the Toyota Hilux offered by Meng Models in 1/35th.
I appreciate the Tacoma is larger than the Hilux but is the size difference in the vehicles body length only or will I need to do major surgery on the Meng kit to obtain the correct size for the Tacoma?
Help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot.
Joe.

Here you can find the technical specifications for a 2001 Double cab Tacoma (as seen in Afghanistan) :

But other models can be found on the same website...

Hello
I'm not a huge specialist of pickup but i thinks that the Meng kit is based on hilux 1 and Tacoma used in Astan is based on HiLux 2.
I have in mind the same conversion but there's lot of works specially since the front and sides are différents!
We could hope that meng will do a HiLux2 too (with both driver positions).

Rob,
Did SOCOM take their Tacomas and NVSTs home (back to the USA) despite being such an old (2001-2003) truck?

I don't know. But I do know Meng does not plan to do a Tacoma.
