I'm in the process of air brushing my Russian T-62 and had a couple of questions. My base coat color is german uniform grey and would like to know can you mix Tamiya paints to lighten/darken them? If not, does anyone know what the highlight color would be for german uniform grey?
Thank you

Hello Jody,
A well known modeler suggests that to lighten Tamiya
dark color use some Tamiya flesh....the lightened color
will retain its tonality but be lighter.
Don't use white....it may shift the tone too much.
As far as the darkening of uniform gray....I use
a couple of drops of XF-61 and a couple of drops of XF-63.
Experiment, you may need to add more of one or the other
to bring the original color to your liking.
Cheers,
Joe

I agree on not using the white, and I've known others who have used the flesh with good results as well. Tamiya paints are usually very good to work with, which is why they are often favored by many of us. You shouldn't have any trouble mixing them.
