Hi,
I'm just wondering if anybody can advise me which variant of the Cromwell tank was used in Korea. I have the Tamiya Cromwell MkIV, is this the correct variant or could I use AM parts to create the correct variant.
Thanks in advance
James

Here are two Cromwell belonging to the 8th King's Royal Irish Hussars in Korea :
This one had been captured by the Chinese forces :
and this one had been destroyed during the battle of Imjin :
..but I'll let you ID the variant

I've always thought them to be Cromwell MkVII's.

That's the impression I had as well.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the quick response, Bison have got decals for a MkVII in korea so I think darren and jeff are right about the variants, thanks for the pics as well Frenchy a captured Cromwell might make an interesting subject!
I don't usually modern any WW2 era subjects so I'm wandering what changes I'd need to make to the Tamiya kit to make it accurate as a MkVII, is the Tamiya kit even any good?
Thanks again
James

The Tamiya kit is good. And I think Accurate Armour may do a conversion to convert it to them MkVII.

Hi Guys,
The type of Cromwell used in Korea the QRIH has a late hull ("F" type) with a side opening hatch for the driver (like the Comet) Accurate Armour do this hull type.
Its a very easy conversion, I did it a few years ago for a friend that dislikes resin.

PS you need turret boxes too

The Cromwells in Korea were, indeed, MkVII`s.
The AA conversion mentioned above seems to be for the hull only and appears not to provide the two bins that were fitted to each side of the turret that were provided to replace the space lost when the two front trackguard bins were removed.

The other option is to get the SKP kit, which has the correct hull, engine deck, turret bins, etc.
