Hello Everyone,
Just wondering if someone can help me out with a question on the Italeri T-34/76 M-1943 roadwheels. It's kit # 282. No color is given for the roadwheels, so I'm wondering what color they need to be painted. They appear to be an all steel wheel with no tires. Is this correct? Thanks to any and all who might be able to help out.
Regards,
Joe

While I do not have that specific kit, I have a few of Tamiya's T-34 chassises. What I do to the road wheels that are rubberless, after painting, I take an ordinary #2 pencil and rub the outer rim with the pencil lead. This leaves a metallic sheen to the road wheel rim.

Hi Rob,
Thanks for the response. Can you tell me if there were T-34's with rubber tires and some without.
Is there any way to tell the difference between the two? As I said, these look like there is no tire what so ever.
Thanks too for the tip about using the pencil.
Regards,
Joe

Yes, there were T-34s without rubber road wheels. Rubber was a strategic resource and scarce after much of the Far East fell under Japanese control. It was not uncommon to see T-34s with rubber road wheels at the first one or two road wheel arms and the rest all metal, maybe a rubber one at the rear. Rubber absorbs the shock and the absense makes for a rough ride.
