I'm still working on my backdated slick M60... turning out great and even did the interior of the drivers compartment.
I've decided to go with overall OD with lots of shading.
Question - After studying Reforger books I found lots of variation...
Do I go with Large White Stars (Glacis plate, Turret sides, small on turret top and small on rear fender..
Do I go with small/medium black stars?
No stars, just unit markings.
I'm shooting for early 70's Germany (7th Army).
.... Also - I know that at some point all vehicles in Germany were required to have an "anti-collision" light - or bubble gum light (rotating yellow beacon). Not sure when this started though and if they were even used in the early years. I've seen them on M60A1s and on up, and then in the 80's the large reflective stickers were added (delineator).

2/70th Armor, 24th Inf Div painted over the white stars with black in late 1966. Unit markings and vehicle number remained white. I have a picture of my TC painting over the turret star.
We also had small marker lights on the front and rear fenders...would like to find those in resin. See Hunnicutt's 'Patton', in the color section with the troops on the Berlin Brigade M60.

Answers my question! Thanks!
I've seen the marker lights. They are just the same side marker lights on other street vehicles. I think that a couple of the HUMVEE kits have them as separate parts - I think they come on a clear sprue if I remember. I'm going to look for these when I get home.
It seems there was a rush to add side marker lights to all the vehicles about then. I have a couple of surplus kits to add the lights to my M151 and another to a 2 1/2 ton.

I was in 8th ID from Oct '72 through April '77. When I arrived, all vehicles were solid OD, white stars, and white bumper numbers. In about June '73 we went to the 4 color MASSTER scheme for the vehicles, the stars changed to black, but we kept white bumper numbers. I don't believe this was changed before I PCS'd. I'm also pretty sure there was no requirement for all vehicles to have the orange anti-collision lights up to that point, although I think some vehicles like wreckers may have had them. We were a V Corps unit and there MAY have been some differences in VII Corps as the reg governing the pattern painting was a Corps level supplement to the USAREUR reg.
