This is for the tankers in the group, or anyone else that might know the answer. The instruction sheet for the Tamiya M1A1 Abrams with Mine Plow, shows the power cable for the plow going into the drivers hatch. That seems OK when the hatch is open, but how does that work when the hatch is closed? Surely the use of the plow is not lost when the tank is "buttoned up."

Also any hints on this model or corrections would be appreciated since I would like to produce a reasonably accurate model, and tanks are not my area of expertise. As an old infantry guy, I tried to stay way clear of them because they tended to draw enemy fire.

ok no prob - the vision blocks are removable- so the cable is ran through the space where the block used to be - hope this helps

According to my references, it goes right through the viewport when the hatch is closed. And, I was also told this by a couple other people.

I think there will be some photos on the web if you do a search.

As far as other corrections, check out the ML Tweaks list. The URL for this was just givven a few days ago in another thread about the most accurate M1.

The right driver's vision block is removed and the power cable is threaded through the opening. A few of us worked on the M1 Abrams Tweaks list a while back. It is accessible through the following link: Tweaks List. Adobe Acrobat reader is required to view this document.

Here is the Technical Manual for the mine plow. It shows how the cable is routed as well as how the plow is installed and operates.
