Howdy all,
For the record, I've signed on the dotted line! Count me in! Since I haven't heard a 'discouraging word' about my vignette being admissable, I'm goin with that.
Tread.
Now, at the current rate of 'modeling time'exchange, let's see, both animal and TT will have four Abrams to my one! #:-)

I have signed up, going to build the Tamiya M1A1 OTB. I am going to purchase the Legends kit to bulk up the kit. I am primary interested in developing finishing techniques.

Took me three days of thinking about whether to do this or not, but I'll take the plunge.
Have an M1A1 early production that it will give an excuse to finish, and I'll have enough time to build another
Problem is I every Abrams kit in release right now and I'm gonna have to choose one.

You guys know what?...My wife can wait on the home improvements that she's been nagging me about.....COUNT ME IN, AS WELL!
I have about 4 Abrams sitting on the shelf that are just collection dust. Plus, I have some Archer dry transfers that I have not yet been able to use.

Howdy Armour66,
I am in awe of your courage my man! Obviously you are a much braver man than I. And I can only be more impressed by your physical strength as well, since you must carry your 'boys' around in a wheel barrow!!

Just joshin' ya Chris....best of luck with your build!

Chris it has been very nice knowing you. I am honored to have known such a man to stand up to his wife. We will one day build a diorama memorial in your honor. Posthumously of course, I'll start next week.

Maybe...just perhaps....in the weeks to come, someone will stumble across a tape cassette, put it in the tape player and this is what they will hear....
"(heavy breathing)...I don't understand...why she ....is doing this...to me....(long pause)...she has covered up my.... airbrush booth's exhaust....hard to breathe....the fumes..(cough cough)...she has lock the basement door....can't get out"
Please guys I would like to have "Dust in the Wind" played at the memorial service.

seriously now.... I just wanna ask Bro Abrams, if you take a look at the post in the Campaigns the start date is Feb. 1, 2004 & the end date is May 1, 2004 but the one in the Rules & Reg start date is Feb, 14,2004 & ends May 14, 2004, which is which? Do I detect a typographical error? #:-)

I hope - but it's highly unlikely - that I'll have a new airbrush before this campaign ends. For now, I'm an "iffy" on joining - but I WILL build and convert my Dragon 1/72 M1A1 into a KVT. The painting part will either make or break me in this campaign.

Given only the choice of using kits (no scratchbuilding), I would go with the Trumpeter lower hull and suspension, and the Tamiya upper hull and turret with some of Pavel Vodnicks new anti skid coating on it. The coating he did to his bradley is just amazing. The coresponding tweaks from the tweaks list would still apply.

I've got both new kits from DML and the TAMIYA. Tamiya did a better job of correcting some of the problems but still will need lots of work. DML just reboxed their old one and added a bustle rack extension that the is good for the Army only. I am planning on building both kits, but I believe the Tamiya one is better. Of course this is just MHO.

Hello All,
Here is a link to photos of the M1A1 Towed Assault Bridge. A crazy idea from a combat engineer that adopted it from the Israelis.

I'll be building a 1/35 Hobbycraft M1A1 from Operation Iraqi Freedom, USMC 1st Marine Div., Baghdad, April 2003. I'll use the Verlinden stowage set and tanker figures from Dragon. As this is my first serious armor project since building Aurora kits in the '70s, I would appreciate any links to websites on OIF armor or modelling that show pictures of Marine Abrams. So far, I only have the recent Concord book on OIF and CNN tapes of the war. Thanks

Welcome aboard! For links to Abrams stuff, go to the Armor forum and open the very first thread, which is about Abrams questions. We have posted a bunch of really good links there and we also adress some questions about the Trumpeter/Hobbycraft Abrams. Make sure and check out the tweaks list for some good info on the kit.
