Nice review, Squire. Tamiya can crank it up when they want to (their new Corsair in 1/32nd scale has big plane builders wetting themselves waiting for the kits to arrive). It would seem hard for them to touch what Dragon has already done with its Elefant and Ferdinand releases.

Bill I agree but I think they are aimed at different areas of the market.

Hi Darren ...Great review ... I would usually agree with you about not being for the same market but this time I think Dragons kit is really quite simple and with the option of buying the kit with zimmerit and DS tracks it might just be easier. I love Tamiya kits but I really can't justify buying this kit over the Dragon model... I can't wait to see what Tamiya will give us next from WWII ... And yes I will be buying a Corsair... You just gotta love Tamiya!!!

This is very nice kit, sure bit simpler than Dragon's effort but if you are one of those who prefer painting and weathering stage over building these kits are just the thing. Tracks are actually very simple to assemble, and sag is just right so way better than DS tracks imo.

Shouldn't the lack of zimmerit be a major 'Low', as all Elefants had zimmerit? And Tamiya's AM zimmerit is hardly an improvement! (And I realize I'm resurrecting an ancient thread )

Was there another thread on this for painting and weathering?
