As you can see if i am painting a dark unform i like paint it dark brown first that way i dont have to worry about painting a lining shadow between the neck and the collar etc,the face was first painted in a greyish flesh colour in matt humbrol,a mixture of Windsor & Newton oils were used, flesh, sap green, burnt umber, black, and white, and played around with until i was happy with the shades, the dark shading was done by adding black to the original mix,and white and red were used to highlight and add colour to the cheeks. the hair was burnt umber and pale yellow edged with dark brown,i tend not to be very good at explaining how i paint,so if anyone has any specific Questions, feel free to ask.

That strap is still too slack, and the grenade is still coming out of his leg!

I'm awfully sorry Arthur...I thought you hadn't read the other thread. I have now seen the comment you made acknowledging mine in the other thread....and noted the time you made it....which was well after my post in this thread?

Hey Arthur, you have done a magnificent job on the face. Sometimes when I look at your work I want to give the oil paints another shot but then I remember all the frustration that came with it and remember why I switched to acrylics in the first place. Anyhow, what scale is this guy?
