Good afternoon gentlemen,
Just a quick question about what type of glue you use that best works for armor/figures.
I have been using testors liquid, (dries too slow and doesn't hold very good, except for link tracks) and regular testors model cement. (WAY too messy.) Is there any other type of model glue that works better?
Thanks in advance.

Tamiya extra thin is my favorite. It comes with a very fine brush. This retort of cement is designed to be flown into seams and cement the parts together. It isn't the best glue to apply to a part, then add to the model. Instead, put the parts together, and touch the tip of the brush to the join. The cement will flow under and around the part, cementing it neatly and perfectly to the model.

I second that. Tamiya extra thin is light years ahead of the game. I've also heard you can use MEK, but risk side effects of the toxic vapors.

Hi Chris:
I have to go with the others and can only totally agree that Tamiya extra thin is my favorite all around glue. There are also other cements out there that also work well, and it really is all up to you. I also like either Tenax or Micro Weld. These are very very fast setting glues. And also there are the super glues. I like to have both a super thin and a gel super glue for certain things.
HTH Gary.

Thanks for the help!
can the Tamiya and micro weld be found on regular model websites? Ive never tried micro weld, is it anything close to regular model glue?

you can buy the Tamiya extra thin at any local hobby shop, Tamiya does make two version's of their liquid cement glue, the extra fine states so on the bottle and has a green lid with a green label, the other regular cement is in a octagon looking bottle with a orange/brown top and orange/brown label.
I know you can buy it online from hobby stores, but shipping is spendy.

I usually use Tamiya's cement, with this difference; I find the thin too thin, and the regular too thick, so I mix the two, about 50/50, and end up with the perfect (for me) all-purpose glue.

Ambroid pro weld is my to go. Sets quickly and this is why I like it. The down side is is sets quickly so if you need to move something or adjust, you need to be quick. Also it does melt plastic so a little goes a long way and is often too much for small parts. But the bond is usually very strong. Cheers.

I use both Tamiya glues, but my main glue of choice is Humbrol Precision Poly, the yellow bottle with the long metal tip.

Hi Chris,
To be honest, I have assembled many of my recent figures with CA:

I still use tube and liquid glues for models but nowadays, I just use CA on figures. Bob Smith brand works great for me:

I use a combination of many glues in my builds. I use Faller expert for the heavy stuff, I.E. Hulls, turrets, and anything else that needs extra strength. For the little stuff, I use Tenax and super glue.
