Hi Gang,I just bought myself Revell`s re-release of Renwal`s Wrecker Truck and was wondering what can be done to improve it ?.
I know it`s little more than a glue together toy but after doing a little "Googling" i found that it`s actually based on a real truck !,any one done this kit and willing to share any information ?.
Any pointers gratefully received.

The truck is pretty rough. It has lots of overscale plastic and is devoid on any fine details like nuts, bolts, rivets, etc. The worst part are the wheels. They are horrible with only slightly better tires on them.
If you really want a nice 5-ton wrecker, I would suggest either Hobby Fan or Real Model. It would take a lot of work to bring this kit up to current standards.

I love the "No Show Cementing" claim on the box and agree with HeavyArty; if you want a model of modern standards, put the Renwal up on a jack and run a new kit under it.

Thanks for the replies guys,as much as i would love to go with the suggestions for other kits i can`t.
I have the normal mundane problems of a SWMBO and two rug rats to support so my budget wont stretch to "premium" rate kits - besides i love the challenge of trying to turn a sows ear into a silk purse !.

I know that one all too well, which is why I had a sixteen-year hiatus from the hobby.

It can always be used to show what model kits once looked like as an old school model if nothing else.
