This weekend I received the new MIG Productions M998 conversion set for Tamiya Humvee. I believe this is the first conversion set designed specifically for Tamiya kit on the market.

I wrote a review of this new set. To read it, please visit my website here: http://vodnik.net/index_rv.htm

Jurgen,

It is right there - on the begining of the Reviews section. Click on the link I included in the previous post and then try refreshing your browser screen (Ctrl+F5 in Internet Explorer) - maybe some older version of my web page is still cached somewhere on your computer or proxy server.

I guess you can easily convert Academy M997 to M996. The front of the roof requires rework, but nothing impossible.

But I see no point in using Italeri soft top parts on Academy kit. If you use later release Italeri kit it is in some areas actually better than Academy models (interior for example). Original Italeri releases had many features of prototype Humvees, but it was later corrected. The command M998 was originally released with prototype body parts, but later these parts were supossedly modified to correct shape (I have not seen corrected Italeri parts myself). So I would only use some parts from Academy (e.g. wheels), but leave the main body parts from Italeri. But as I wrote in my review, I no longer build Italeri and Academy models - Tamiya now rules!

Pawel
