Lately the Mr Surfacers in the spray cans have just disappeared along with the Gunze Sangyo products. And to order them for the far is such a long time. It can take up to six weeks because the sprays have to go surface unless you are willing to pay such high rates. So when I saw a sale on E Bay for a lot of the Mr Surfacers and the Mr Color thinner along with the Mr Retarder mild I jumped on the deal. The individual said it was from an estate sale, they all appeared to be unused . Maybe from the stash ? Well I'm happy.
So this morning I took some Mr Surfacer 1200 mix it Mr Color color thinner @ 50% ratio and added abouth 20% Mr Retarder mild. I learned it has to airbrushed from a .5 nozzle , maybe the paints just thick and I did not want to thin it down anymore . The finish is better than from the can, very thin layer .
Now one question, how do yo get rid off those little hairs. You primer , let it dry and there will always be the hairs embedded in the cure primer.

Yeah, I got 6 Email pings on this...
Airbrushes are sensitive to all sorts of things. It may or may NOT be the primer or the mix, though it kinda sounds like it's still too "thick"..air pressure is crucial, and having a dryer/water trap in your air line is recommended..humidity can cause problems. Temperature is also a factor. Most paints get happy between 75-85F when sprayed. What airbrush do you have? I actually keep a dirt cheap siphon type spray gun around for general shooting of primers and other big area sprays, and use the smaller Badgers for painting where painting has to be precise. You might have too thick a mixture, you might have too low a spray pressure (causing a "sputter" that throws little cobwebs) or water in the line causing blobs. OR..you just might be in a dusty environment and what you see is actually room dust attracted by static onto your paint. Lots of things to look into here...what sort of AB rig do you have?

I was using a generic airbrush from e bay. It works fine on a paasche vl did not change the mix or pressure, but I still lean on the nozzle size . The reason I used the generic a/ b was they were gravity fed and the vl is suction .
