I'm nearing completion on a FV432 with PEAK turret. I'm going to have to muddy it up a little to hide the horrible job I did on the resin tracks.
I've been hard pressed to find pictures of this vehicle in action. Best has been Concord BAOR book and the British Army Picture Library. I've seen pictures of a couple of FVs being unloaded in Kosovo but not sure what their current role is. AFAIK in the 80's it was standard mech infantry transport.
I'm leading towards an 80's version since one of my figures is wearing a sweater but I painted the fuel caps yellow and I'm not sure when this practice came into being. Also, some of the current pic have the sprocket hub painted red as well as a bump on the front.
Sorry I've rambled on a bit but any ideas? I've got a fairly close reg # match(xx ED xx), bridging decals(18?) and some yellow unit markings from a Warrior.
Thanks,
Paul

Paul,
If you can put it off for awhile, there's a book coming out on the whole FV430 Series. I don't have the exact date, and I'm trying to find out, but I suspect that it'll be in the Jan-Feb time frame.

Kevin,
I've heard about the book but it's the only FV432 kit I've got and it's been a 2+ year running battle with this kit and I'm ready to put it to bed. Plus the household minister of procurement says I have to finish a kit in order to get a new one.

Paul,
I hope I can help you with some of your questions, I also had the pleasure??? of riding and driving the 432 for numerous years whilst serving in Her Majesteys Royal Engineers.
The red bump on the front was for an oil dipstick and was a screw in cover with an alun key socket in the middle. The above photos also show red patches on the side. Thes were for the internal fire extinguishers so they could be switched on from outside.
I am not sure when the yellow fuel lids came into normal use, but I always remember them and I was in them since 1989.
The bridge classification on the front for an Engineer 432 was not 18ton, however the "peak" may well have added to the 16 ton loaded weight that we had on our paks.
Any markings were unit specific and work on the callsign for the vehicle, so a bit of research into the actual unit will be required to confirm the markings.
If you want any more info I will try and help, but it has been a few years since I was operational in these beasts.

Thanks for all the input. I'm not trying to match an exact vehicle so I'll just give it a go and hope it looks fairly close. Wish the upcoming book had been out sooner. Maybe I'll give one of the new AA FV432s a try later.
Thanks,
Paul
